Sorry, that sucks. Family doesn't have to be blood related. Your family can be also be your friends. Next year make an effort and plan something and don't wait to be invited. Sometimes you have to make the effort too, and not wait around or leave it up to everyone else to call you or extend an invite. The phone does work both ways.
