If my girlfriend knew I was really gay and in love with my best friend it would kill her and my family....maybe ruin my life forever....

You're being selfish. Even if you don't want to come out of the closet just because you're afraid of what society and your family will think, don't expect this girl or any other to ** her entire life to make your parents proud of you
i agree with the first commentor. whether you say it now or then itll hurt just the same. Go with what you really feel and in time she realize you saved her from a life thats a lie.

Yeah and feel misserble all the time? What if she finds out in 2056. Do you think she'll be hurt any less? I don't think so. You have to accept yourself for who you are, and your girlfriend and family have to do too. I'm not saying it will be easy, but you are the most important person in your life. Without you you'll have no life. So come clean and if you're too affraid to, maybe ask some gay men (search online) how they did it. Good luck to you!
