Why is people so judgemental when it comes to kids

Ok, I have 2 kids. The only thing about it is that I hate being a mother and hate motherhood together. It's like, I don't hate my kids but don't have that mother instinct. When I try to talk to people about it, they start judging me and saying that I'm just selfish and need to just grow up and except the fact that i have children..... I cant. Do this really makes me a bad person.

  • I dont think that you are a bad mother. I have two kids ages 21 and 23 myself and I'm a great single mother, I've been through h*** and back with their father after 13 yrs I decided it was enough and took care of my kids n still is, but you have no idea what I go through. No matter how much you dedicate your life to kids some of them are ungrateful and it really hurts, my sister have two kids too and they would spend time with they mom come upstairs and talk and share laughter ect mines dont even have time with me and it really hurts, my daughter she's the most unhappiest person on the face of the earth since I separated from their father, so I decided that this yr I'm going to live for me not kids anymore. Please dont feel guilty we are all human beings and made up differently

  • No. You're being honest. Not everyone is cut out to be a parent. And being a parent is hard work. It can be fun and rewarding, but it can be definitely frustrating and challenging. I think for your kids sake you have to put on a good show and shower them with affection and praise. They need to know that they are loved without question. Because not doing so will leave them feeling neglected. Perhaps when they're older you'll have more of a bond because they'll be adults. But in the meantime, maybe speak with a therapist about how you feel. Also speak to your husband about being able to go out on your own, without the kids to participate in things you may enjoy, like classes or meeting up with friends. You have to find a balance in your life. In doing so, by improving you, that can improve your family's life as a whole.
