In sixth grade, I wanted to read the Buffy Watcher's Guide at the public library but I didn't have my library card with me that day, so I snuck it into my backpack. And then I felt too embarrassed to return it, so I cut out all my favorite pictures from it and threw it away so no one would know. I feel bad about it now, and I'm thinking of buying a copy of it to "donate" to the library.

Well, I looked it up in the library's computers and it said it was "missing." I feel like it's my duty to donate the same book because it was something that I didn't take away from the library itself, but I took it from any kids who might have wanted to check it out one day only to find it missing.
Donate money to the library instead. They may have already replaced that book, or have more pressing needs.
