Strange family history
My great grandparents come to Georgia from Ireland and they were given land by Georgia to farm. The land had previously belonged to a man who had died without any heirs.
Here's where it gets strange. When they arrived on the property there were blacks living there.
My p*** poor Irish relatives in their uneducated but kind way never kicked them off of this land. The blacks lived in a cabin as did my ancestors. They worked the land and together they were able to feed their families.
General Sherman arrived on the farm and he told the blacks they were free. Shermans men were told by these folks that they had been free for two generations.
Everybody that lives on this land centuries later are black. My relatives either got other employment or died out.
