I almost got into a relationship with my best friend. Instead, I convinced her to get back with her ex of 5+ years, who probably was the better choice for her anyways.
Sometimes, I think I should stop being such a self sacrificing loser and do something that makes me happy instead of someone else.

Well, its admirable that you treat your friends so nicely. You can still do that while you treat and reward yourself with whatever you wish. Be a little selfish with some of your money. Save up some -mad money- for those times you feel underappreciated.
If you did, then you would be like most everyone else. Stay unique and selfless. It is rare and has more benefits later in life.
