Friends Again?

I wish I was still friends with my ex.

We went out for a year and a half, but broke up last year. And everyday at school I see him and wish whoever he was talking to was me. I've tried to reconcile with him before, but he just didn't seem interested in being my friend anymore, and it makes my heart ache. We have the same friends anyway.

How do I tell him without being too forward?
