I'm obsessed with scaring myself but

I'm obsessed with scaring myself but I'm completely desensitized to horror movies. I watch movie after movie and just come out disappointed. Then at night right before I go to bed, I sit around in the dark reading ghost stories whether they're on books or off the internet, trying to give myself nightmares. I'm also always searching for good creepypasta.
I don't know what's wrong with me, sometimes I think I won't be satisfied until I scare myself so much that I'll have a heart attack and die.

  • Oh!

A friend of mine the other night went through the same sorta thing.

His medication made for good scares.

So, he went into the depths of the internet to find some of the most terrible stuff he can view.

    Have you pored over rotten.com?

    Or jj.am?

  • if you really want to be scared move into the worse ghetto you can find, and just make enemies. You'll be afraid all the time.

  • There isn't many true fright-horror flicks out there. Lots of gore flicks though. Have you looked into foreign horror? I didn't expect it, but Ringu (Remade as The Ring, could have been better) from Japan got me pretty good.

Part of it is that you are expecting the scares rather than the movie. I liked the undertones of the Final Destination series. It wasn't all that scary. More gory than scary. but you knew the underling theme. Somehow, the next guy is going down in some violent manner. You keep looking for it.

Have you also seen some of the classics? The Fog, Fright Night, Creepshow, IT, Salems Lot, Poltergeist, some of the Hellraisers, The Thing, The Evil Dead, any Return of the Living Dead and all its variants, Jeepers Creepers, The Omen, The Blob... I've enjoyed all of these. I'm not a fan of gore, so Saw and Hostel are interesting to watch but I wince at some of it.

    Good Luck!
