My parents always favored my older brother
They doted on him. I was a second class son in our house. After we finished school I joined the army. I did well and I went to college the education being paid for in large part by Uncle Sam.
My older brother flunked out of college and I after many years of going off and on graduated. He got married her got divorced and then after the birth of his only child a boy he disappeared. Not even my parents know where he is.
I'm married too but I keep my children at arms length from my parents because they are taking care of my brothers son whom I don't like or trust. I'd like to be a good Uncle but since he doesn't seem to be interested I'm not interested in him either.
I did ok in life. My children get good presents at Christmas, decent food good shelter and as good a clothing as I can afford. His son can't keep a job and is a burden to my aging parents but it is partly their fault.
Sad story about your parents but congratulations on your accomplishments, especially your family.
