scratching

Is scratching yourself like cutting yourself, but less painful? I'm depressed but haven't told my parents, just my two friends. I scratch my stomach with pointy things or with corners and such. Any help suggestions?

    • your not stupid honey. you arent a poser either. some people have a big head and they think there knowledge is gods gift to others. you ignore that **! yes, scratching indeed is just as bad.its a form of self mutilation just not as bad but its still the intent to hurt yourself. pulling out locks of hair, wrist banging, cutting, scratching. all that that and more. i think you need to figure out why you do it and how you can stop. i was really bad cutter for years .i even stabbed myself in the arm bc i went nuts but i stopped and i now stare at these gashes and wonder if my husband is ashamed to love a cutter. just some advice

    • How about taking up gardening? You'll scratch the ** out of your arms, focus on positive energy, and generally make the place nicer and pretty.

Are you really this depressed, and how does it help? Seeking attention, but then ashamed later. There are better ways. Get that attention by excelling in something.

This comment is for ALL stupid cutters and posers.

    • Wow, do not listen to this guy. Cutting is NOT about seeking attention, I am a cutter and I'm VERY self-concious about my cuts and scars, I hide them, and almost all Self-harmers do. We are not stupid or posers, we are dealing with stress and emotions in our own way, unhealthy way but still.

    • Cutters are attention seekers, end of. There are many, many ways to deal with pain-- humans have been coping with it even longer than there's been a word for it. Cutters are convinced they're the first people to ever experience it and that the only way to "express" it is to self-harm so that people can see the scars and fuss over them. Cutting was nowhere near as big a deal before helicopter parenting and treating every ** cricket like the Second Coming... coincidence? I think not.

You're not special. You're not the first person to ever deal with pain. I have stared very pointedly at dumb childrens' scars, then continued my conversation without so much as a raised eyebrow. I won't play into their manipulation, and have no sympathy for them or you.

    • ^I thought this dumbass was gone for good, Looks like he's still gonna be making his own posts to comment about. Stupid piece of **.
