I just found out that before we were

I just found out that before we were together, my girlfriend was raped by a friend from home. It has completely changed the way she feels about her body and sexuality; they are now ugly and hurtful to her. I love her endlessly, but this is obviously putting a strain on the relationship. She is completely in denial, and has convinced herself it was a dream. I am the only person she has ever told. She will not call a helpline or see someone. What can I do to convince her to seek help? Or what can I say to comfort her and make her realize that she is truly the most beautiful woman I have ever seen? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • It might not work, but try showing her that sexual relations can involve romance and the other good side of s**. Its very hard to do, but she needs to be comfortable with her body. Its hard to instill confidence. A help line might not be what she wants, but getting to know another surviver could help.

  • Man this is a tough situation. And I really don't know how to advise you. But what I would do is just keep showing her love and being there for her. Actions speak much louder than words. You think she is the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. But the more you show her that and treat her like that maybe she will realize that you are not just saying words and that you really do think she is the most beautiful woman ever. But like i said this is a tough situation and she should get professional help. As to ways to convince her to get it, that's beyond me. Because being raped leaves such deep scars and is such a slippery slope, you have to be careful what you do and say. If I may suggest prayer. I know God can perform miracles. I wish you well
