  • sXe (I'm sorry to everyone here for knowing what that means, forgive me please.) Isn't that great. Look at Hunter S. Thompson, he embraced drugs, s**, and alcohol, and lived a long time, pretty happy too.
Actually he suffered great pain as a result of a chronic back problem, which was made even worse by surgery, and eventually killed himself. 68 years is a long time to some but well below life expectancy any more.

  • BECAUSE THEY ARE STUPID....DUH

  • Wow more power to you. I wish i had never done any of that stuff. It's hard to ENTIRELY let it go.

  • ^ Nope. Who's Therapy Boy? I'm not the Site-Shrink, but I'm close.

  • ^ therapy boy?

  • I don't think that they think you are a bad person. A person having a drink likes someone else to have a drink with them because of how you can then relate to them. You can learn a lot from watching how a persons personality can change under different influences. It lets you peek behind that guard that some will put up.

Avoiding things like smoking or drinking is great for you, but if your friends perceive you as being judgmental and higher than them, thats why you get a hard time. Who wouldn't?

Just get creative with your excuses. Drug testing at work or for sports. Or that alcohol messes with your 'training'. Or that your grandmother was a heavy smoker and she died early. Stuff like that that make you seem like you are not judgmental. Raising up that 'straight edge' flag is a clear signal that you are different, and so you are treated differently.

Personally I didn't smoke weed for years and years while I was still supportive of harm reduction, decriminalization, and bringing back the hemp cottage industry. Why miss out on a market like that? Its proven that you can't get high from certain types. I waited.... 11 years I think. I was offered a puff on many many occasions but knew I needed to have that ability to defeat any argument that only potheads want weed decriminalized.

I don't know why anyone would give you a hard time about smoking though. Its a horrible expensive habit which will eventually kill you. They just want someone to bum a cig off of?

  • Weed IS good for you man ! :D
Feed your head ! (jefferson airplane quotation)

  • I like beer

  • WEED IS GOOD FOR YOU, MAN. PEACE.

  • I don't care about being around people who drink, I just hate that people don't invite because I don't drink

  • ^Yeah, I don't drink (I smoke though) and I f****** hate being around a bunch of drunk people!

  • I had a few friends that never partied when the rest of us did. We used to not invite them because they didn;t party thinking they wouldn't enjoy themselves. They did enjoy themselves for the most part once asked but I woul dcaution you not to get sucked into being the 'b****' who drives everybody around because you are the only one sober. Don't be a door mat.

  • hey i'm not saying i'm better then people who do drugs, some people I look up to did drugs, like jimmi hendrix, kurt cobin, ozzy osbourne, edgar allen poe, and many more, I just hate that no one wants to hang out with and let me go to parties because I don't drink or do drugs.

  • To the first guy who posted about Hunter S Thompson, right and wrong, he did finally kill himself, the chronic pain isn't the proven reason though, some people think he did it because he was getting close to an age where he wasn't gonna be able to take care of himself.
gotta admire a guy who plays shotgun golf though.

  • I don't know why either. If they were my drugs, I would want more for myself, so I would be cool kickin it with someone who didn't want any of my s***!

  • ^ Actually he suffered great pain as a result of a chronic back problem, which was made even worse by surgery, and eventually killed himself. 68 years is a long time to some but well below life expectancy any more.

  • I mean just because I follow a straight edge lifestyle doesn't make me a bad person, I'm not one of the people who force it upon others, or think i'm better then anyone. I'm not in to the punk rock sense where most straight edge kids hang out.

  • because they are jealous of your ability to resist what they cannot.Good for you.
