Incident at a longshoremans bar in Alameda circa 1982.
I was friends with this Jewish police Officer named Jack. He often had to make an arrest at a certain bar in ALameda. A drunk longshoreman was banned from going there but he said he was going there anyway. Someone warned the bartender and he called the police who sent Jack.
Jack was medium height and thin. His semetic features were obvious. His upbringing had not been gentle as he was originally from New York City and he had to fight pretty much everyday of his life growing up. He learned street fighting and later on martial arts and he sparred and occassionally boxed.
In other words he was a lot tougher than he looked. OK. he showed up when the bad longshoreman arrived at the bar.
A brief argument was exchanged between the much biffer dock worker and Officer Jack. He told officer Jack that if he took his badge off he wouldn't be going to the station with him. Officer Jack handed me his badge for safe keeping and the two began fighting. Jack tore him a new **. He beat the ever loving ** out of the big mouth trouble maker. Jack arrested him.
Ok Officer Jack was my fathers best friend. I grew to love him like a Uncle. The feeling was mutual.
He died of natural causes just a few years ago.
