You're not alone. I think much of organized religion is unnecessary and not really something that God, if he exists, would really care about. There is a good and a bad, though, and everyone who can empathize with another human being can see that. If you're a good person and strive to be good, that is the most important thing.

Athiest / agnostic is easier. There is no one to answer too but men and they are arguable no better than you.
