My children pranking grandma with hotfoot, and she's take a joke

My mother recently came to stay with me. She's a sprightly 65 year old lady in good shape (she looks younger than her age), Peppy, Fiesty and Tomboyish; My kids love her and she loves them, and they play together a lot. By the way, she's a kind of hippie and loves being barefoot. In my house she's always with bare soles, and when she goes out I have to be the one to remind her to wear flip flops.
The favorite game that my children love to play the most with her is, needless to say, attack those helpless feet of hers by torturing them with copious doses of tickling.
So far so good, but yesterday my children played a rather serious prank on grandma. She was basically lying on the couch taking a nap, and my eldest son took advantage of this by sticking two folded pieces of paper between the big toe and the second toe of both feet, and then set them on fire with a lighter.
My mother made an incredible leap from the couch, swinging her feet to put out the fire that was burning between her toes.
I caught my kids laughing as they watched their grandmother blow on her toes in an attempt to soothe the burns. After telling me what they did, I naturally scolded them first for the bad joke they played on grandmother, secondly for having started playing with fire.
But at that point my mother intervened laughing, telling me that I shouldn't take it too much, that the children just wanted to play and that after all they weren't serious burns.
I was a little surprised! I knew my mother was always a little weirdbut even justify such prank... I then decided to let go of the joke, but certainly not of the playing with fire. I just want to hope that my mother will never do crazy things with my children when I'm not around.
