Just as the kids were excited to hear from Izzy , I can say I am equally excited to hear from you, albeit I’d rather it be under different circumstances than you being laid up in a wheelchair suffering pain. For how long do doctors expect you to be wheelchair bound and to continue physio.?
There’s no doubting my appreciation for you as a long term friend. I sometimes think we’ve known each other for our entire adult life, yet I don’t presume to know you in real life at all but that doesn’t deter me for liking you and respecting your viewpoint as a decent mum and a good friend.
Kids are influenced by others and most of the time they are older than our kids. You may recall that when Ren and Lilly came to live with us they spoke candidly about their smoking, drinking and
s exual activity. We had a chat, I was livid to learn that their friend’s mother introduced them to all that. What annoyed me most was that the twins were provided alcohol and cigarettes and this woman arranged for boys to come into her home and have s ex with them and other girls, including her own daughter, Natalie aged 9 at the time. Ren and Lilly were 6 when this started. It was all without s ex education or anything else. It makes me feel I’ve left them down, it should have been my duty to offer them cigarettes, alcohol and grant them permission to have ** with the education. As it turned out a mother in our circle of friends told me that soon after, Natalie became a heroin addict, that’s when I banned the twins from hanging out with her or visiting the family.
Izzy may have been influenced too by an older girl. I told my girls not to intrude by asking what Izzy did and embarrassing her on here and I was quick to remind them that they haven’t had kids yet and my babies have not grown up. Heaven forbid when they do.

According to studies, girls aged 14 are the most difficult for parents to handle, so I’ve got that to look forward to in Ren and Lilly. Be that as it is there are plenty of kids that don’t drink, smoke, have s ex or swear that are far more out of control than our 3 kids. I see this everyday by the way they talk to their parents without showing any respect. I’ll go as far as saying that Izzy, Ren and Lilly are far more appreciative for allowing them the freedom they deserve and demand. They are good kids. This was illustrated when Izzy came home to celebrate New Year’s Eve with you, abandoneding her friends, a lovely gesture.
I had a massive problem with Lilly’s drinking some months ago. she’d come home and drink about 5 cans of Boubon and coke whilst doing her homework. She’d open the ring pull can, take a few sips and pour a few nips of extra Bourbon from a bottle in Rick’s bar into the can then fill that bottle with cold tea and coke to try and make the content the same colour. Her drinking worried Ren ended up telling me what she was doing. Normally their bond is so great, neither would entertain telling on one another but as I said Ren thought Lilly’s drinking was excessive. Lilly didn’t seem to give a f uck about anything, they are supposed to get changed at school before they come home via a café and have a few cigarettes and a cup of coffee but not Lilly, she burnt a hole in her school uniform (the second time now) while she was sitting on a boy’s knee drinking from a Bourbon bottle and smoking. She started smoking cigars to get a greater head spin and this seems ideal for her.

I bought Lilly and Ren Wee Willem cigars for Christmas together with cigarettes. Now Ren is enjoying. This has curbed Lilly’s drinking somewhat but I will have to gauge that when school returns because she drinks when doing her homework. She said homework stresses her out.
I have a feeling that Izzy, Ren and Lilly would get on famously in real life, enjoying sleep overs at one another’s houses, playing music and doing what the he ll they like within reason.
