I always feel like im never perfect enough for anyone. I go home and constantly am criticized by my step dad. I cant remember the last time he told me he was proud of me or that he loved me. everyday its the same thing. im a piece of lazy ** or that i can never do anything right. i hateit.
Poor baby. Try getting that and worse from your bio dad your entire life, then come crying with your tale of woe.
Tell him to go ** himself
It's tough being a step father. Especially a new one. Relating to your step children after knowing them for a short time. I'm sure he is proud of you and does love you, but struggles to tell you. Also, his experience of parenting might well be limited to encouragement through discipline and saying things about being lazy from his own experience with his parents, hoping to encourage you to try harder. And hey, maybe you are lazy and don't do enough to help? PF!
You don't have to be perfect for anyone. I know you and the people that know you well enough accept you for who you are, and we all think you're a wonderful person. I love you, and you don't need to keep thinking these bad thoughts about yourself.
Relationships with step-parents are often difficult. If you want more love and acceptance from the people around you, try giving people more love and acceptance. Someone will give some back to you, others might not know how. You're a young man so you'll have plenty of time to figure it out. When you have a son or a step-son of your own, it might improve the relationship you have with your step-father by bringing new understanding to the circumstances that impact your relationship with him.
