Meet the parents
My boyfriend and I are both 20, and we've been together for almost 2 years. We met during our freshman year of college, and hit it off pretty quickly, then began dating. This is the best relationship that both of us have had in our lives, and though we're young and still in school, we talk about the future together, and neither of us are hesitant to think about it. I love him, and he loves me.
The only problem, is for some reason, his parents don't seem to like me. I always try to be extremely polite around parents in general, especially the ones of my boyfriend. My parents were very welcoming when they first met my boyfriend, and they seem to like him, which makes me happy. He even told me the other night that he's starting to feel like part of the family.
Every time I've seen his parents, or stayed at their house, they (especially his mother) are not very friendly towards me. I always greet them with a "Hi, how are you? Thanks for letting me stay at your house" kind of deal, and they seem unresponsive, even when I thank them for little things like dinner.
I've told my boyfriend how upset this makes me, that his parents don't seem to be very accepting. I've come to terms with it, that it's not me, that his parents are this way about any girl he's dated. Still, it's very frustrating. I wish they could see how happy I'm making their son.
