She won't listen to me
Should I be mad at my 5 yr old cuz she won't clean up after herself or that she let alone wont listen, I am trying to teach her to listen to me but nothing works and I will not use physical punishment.
Children learn to behave because they don't want to disappoint the people they love. If they love you, they will not want to disappoint you. So when they do something wrong, and you show your disappointment in a way that comes across seriously, then they will feel ashamed. If you don't express your disappointment, they probably won't respond appropriately. They'll just keep pushing to see how much they can get away with.
thanks for your opinions, I like the comment about not being mad at a child, I have my own issues from when I was a kid and I need to work through them, sometime i see myself acting like my mother who was very strict, when i cathc myself doing that i stop i want to show my children unconditional love and want them to be able to trust me and tell me everything not live in fear of me, I will teach my children how to be responsible and hwo to follow rules but never will i be mad at them.
No! She's 5. Give her a break.
