No big deal if you take care of it. I've had it for 10 years, and although it's a pain in the ** sometimes, it could always be worse.
If you have type 2, pills and not needles are likly. Exercise also is good. Your blood sugar count is what dictates if you have it. Get a blood test from your doctor. i am high blood sugar...boarder line Type 2 but I run daily and this prevents it from escalating and has no effect on my current life style. BLOOD TEST
Both my parents have it, and control it quite well. They recently moved down from Canada to Arizona. Taking daily walks (something they can't do during the winter up here) and get a fair amount of low-level exercise and found they cut their insulin use by half. You might have a shortened life if you just keep with your usual lifestyle, but if you change it you may have a full life with your kids and grandchildren. So you have to poke yourself everyday, or control it by pills, but one day you'll appreciate the changes you make now.
