I am playing with the idea of moving to

I am playing with the idea of moving to Calgary when I graduate from school (in Toronto) in June. It's going to be a life changing decision, and I don't know if it's the right one or not.
There are more opportunities out there and I love the city and will have a fresh start, but at the same time, this is where I got my education, this is where my friends will be getting jobs.
The more I think about it, the more I figure since I'm young, this is the chance I have to make a leap like this and if I fall, I can always move back.

    • You're right about trying it whily you're young. You can't go wrong at your age staying in Toronto or going to Calgary. If you get married and have kids, it's a LOT harder relocating because then you'll have to worry about your spounse being willing to move or not, taking your kids to a new school, and taking care of all the finanicial arrangements. As a bonus, Calgary is near Banff as you probably know. Best wishes to you!

    • Calgary is a great city, all of Wesern Canada is pretty good.
Although I am Maritimer, I lived out west for years. You will love it. The economy is booming and opportutiies are endless. Make that move, especially if you are young, you will not regret it.
      Good Luck.

    • Thanks- Calgary because that's where some of my family lives... and I'm graduating from college, so I'm hoping to get out of the service industry... and it wasn't a confession, more or less looking for advice.

    • What's your confession?

    • The housing market is pretty crazy currently. Any apartments are kicking out the tenants to turn it into a condo, which **. Boardwalk (a rental mega corp. that buys a apartment, fixes something, then jacks the rent as much as they legally can.) owns everything else. Its insane! Secure housing before you go. There is a great job market and anyone will hire you.

But why Calgary? Not Edmonton or Red Deer or Grande Prairie? Any Tim Hortans or Mc D's will start at 9 to 13 bucks a hour. There is such a lack of workers its silly. Many stores are closing early due to the lack of workers.

Not that you need to work in the service industry, there are many Baby Boomers who are finally retiring. Industry will be hurting for young replacements soon.

      Best of luck!
