I hide my Atheism
I love my family and I bow my head when they pray. I respect them as humans but I can't understand why they embrace such absurd beliefs. To me its the same thing as believing in the tooth fairy or Santa Claus.
My family also doesn't know I'm an atheist. I'm an independent adult, so they don't really have to know. I've been an atheist for five years--part of that time was while I lived with them, but I just played along.
You can decide whether to come out to your family or stay in the closet. Every situation is unique, so you make the determination of course. Just know that you're not alone.
I can't imagine why confessionpost classified this as an "Embarassing confession." Surely "Religion" or "Friends and Family" would be better.
