Theres a cave on my grandparents land
The cave is a natural limestone cave and it is very long and deep. Spelunkers say the cave is boring because it lacks natural formations such as stalactites and stalagmites etc. It was once inhabited by Native Americans or used as storage by them.
Scientists have removed the artifacts which once included shoes made of buckskin and they are in a local museum. We all thought nothing much was in there. Bats inhabit the cave.
No having anything better to do I explored the cave. Deep into the dark I went carrying one of those fancy military flashlights you sometimes see advertised.
Crawling around in the cave I suddenly saw something that scared the ** out of me. It was a human skull grinning back at me. I'm not a believer in ghosts but I was unnerved, to say the least.
Slowly backing out of the cave I went and told my grandfather who went to see for himself. Sure enough, he saw it too but unlike me, he investigated further. He said at first he was like me in that he thought the remains were of a Native American but the person had modern pants on so he was probably a local.
My grandfather called the police and the remains were removed. After much inquiry it was determined that the body was of a transient who used to hang around the area thirty years earlier.
None of the cave explorers saw it. I found him. Unfortunately, the man had no relatives in the area so there was no closure for anyone unless the ** is now resting in peace in his new grave.
