The trick, at least at first, would be finding a balance. Yes, all those things you mentioned would be great. But there are too many wastes of life-- some of which have barfed into the comment thread below-- who see all that as a sign of weakness. That's the hurdle the peace-and-love types fudge every time.

"Speak" to the vermin in the only language they're capable of comprehending. If you offer vulnerability and fellowship and they try to take advantage of that to bully you, EVISCERATE THEM. Keep doing this until there are a lot fewer people on this overstuffed planet, and those who remain can at least attempt to be decent social beings.

Spare me the "so much for tolerance" from one side and "ooh karma will get you" from the other. We've been having those so-called conversations for years and gotten nowhere. Time for a change of methodology-- unity and humility from one side, the capacity to kick a$$ and take names from the other. Sustainable, working answers are almost always found somewhere in the middle between two extremes.

It's easy said than done. Many abusers are being abused and they perpetuate the cycle. You don't seem to comprehend that we're surrounded by lost souls. People like us care, but you can't expect to see changes within people right away. It is going to take time. Many more years down the road. Mental illness isn't easy to get rid of. Many are dealing with certain issues and you must comprehend that it's not easy for everyone. I used to think like you, but it's necessary for us to accept the reality otherwise you'll be the one victimizing your own mentality into mental illness because you can't seem to accept anyone else. I'm not saying you're wrong because I'm like that too, but what you need is a different approach. Otherwise you have good thoughts. (:

We often make observations and snap judgements, due to what people have written - but they aren't always accurate. Such is life :)

Who are "we". "We" is used several times in this confession, I believe it's the key factor.

The op doesn't appear to separate themself, from being part of human judgements, nature and failities. They've conveyed their feelings about them and shown their inclusiveness. One can express their personal opinions on the failities of human nature. That doesn't mean the person is excluding themselves from it.
It also doesn't mean, they don't consider and reflect on the bigger picture.
