Nursing elderly parents
I'm not sure how normal this is but I'm nursing my elderly parents. They live in a senior community that's not a nursing home but they have medical staff that check on them. A couple months ago the care providers told me my parents were refusing food or just picking at it and maybe it would help if I could join them for meals. I was still breastfeeding my daughter at the time so we made it a relaxed family time and they seemed to eat a little more at mealtimes.
To make a long story short, my daughter started kindergarten and was recently weaned so I've been having brunch with my parents after dropping her off. The routine became having breakfast and then watching a tv show or movie together. It's been pleasant but they went back to just picking at their food. I still have milk in my b****** and it drips sometimes. We were all curled up watching a show and they started leaking. Suddenly I had a thought and pulled up my shirt and nudged them both to try suckling.
It's now a part of the routine to curl up on the couch or bed, turn on the tv and have them each on a breast. It seems to be a win-win situation. They are getting some nourishment, their appetites have picked up, we all enjoy the human contact from the comfort feedings and I like that I'm helping their health plus bonding.
I know some people might object but I see only good things from it and it's not sexual at all and I suspect more people do this than is admitted to. I know that shared breastfeeding is not a strange thing in some cultures. Americans just get hung up on anything that involves b****** or what they think is sexual.
