Making a mailroom job into something better
I have no college education but I went to work in a mailroom for a large International Insurance company. IN addition to processing mail I was tasked with ordering forms and supplies for my company.
I learned about forms and supplies. Sorting mail only took two hours but the rest of the day was spent getting supplies and forms and delivering them. I got good at it and I knew what forms to order before a co worker needed it and they got the requested form the same day they ordered it.
walking into work I never saw the light of day skippng breaks and taking fifteen minutes for lunch. I was given raises and the company changed my work identification into forms clerk manager. Hard albeit interesting work until I retired. I didn't want to retire but they had a policy that if you were there twenty years or more and you were 65 you had to go. I drew a small pension and social security and I inherited a large sum of money when my paretns passed away.

Great to hear that you enjoyed you job. Pity they forced you to retire. It was nice to read a post by someone who seems to just move through life kind of OK making the best of things. I wish all the best for you into the future.
