Judge suspends 15 year sentence: Bowling Pin Beating Time Served
A Baton Rouge man, released from BR Parish detention after serving only 60 days for the brutal bowling pin revenge beating of D. Tibedeaux 38,
of New Orleans. The January beating, which left Tibedeaux in a medically induced coma for two months was done by Gurien after Tibedeaux summoned security after a frozen soft drink dispute.
A. Gurien acting as his own attorney stated in sworn testimony, in North Baton Rouge superior court that, he, Gurien had donated the frozen slushies to Bishop's Fountain and Drug earlier in the week. Tibrceaux a cashier, assistant manager unaware of the contribution by Gurien demanded payment. Gurien explained to Tibedeaux concerning the donation. Tibedeaux remained insistant that Gurien pay the $1.25¢ for the item. When Gurien declined Tibedeaux's demand he summoned store security officers to ** Gurien from the establishment.
We at the Oil Derrick Reporter feel our readers deserve to know what occurred after Gurien was escorted out by security personnel. Assistant District Attorney, Byron Ruff stated in court that, the brutal life altering assault was purely revenge motivated by Gurien, we at the Derrick agree and that Tibedeaux was denied justice as the court merely handed Gurien a slap on the wrist.
After being escorted from the 54year old establishment Gurien returned with a .45 Colt handgun attempting to shoot the 37 year old assistant manager, running into a stockroom Tibedeaux avoided the five shots fired at him by Gurien. Hours later after filing a police report Tibedeaux continued his nor.so managerial duties.
In the meantimd, Gurien originally from Colorado entered the Tipsy Pin bowling alley walked down a lane, being used by the Swamp Rats bowling league and took a bowling pin from the lane. Gurien had stated to police he would have preferred a bowling ball to use on the still recovering Tibedeaux .
At 7:30 PM Gurien entered the Pharmacy soda shop telling Tibedeaux that he, Gurien would not have to be concerned that a stray bullet would hit a bystander, further stating a bowling pin presented no such problem. Tibedeaux trapped in the cashier's cubicle was now at Turkey's mercy or lack thereof. A.Gurien then commenced the brutal beating of D.Tibeceaux as revenge for the honest mistake of not permitting Gurien the frozen beverage and summoning security on Gurien. The Derrick feels this savage brutal attack was purely revenge motivated, causing life-long pain and disfigurement to the victim for which the perpetrator was not punished.
