Again, you're not as sorry as I am
That was the final words to my ex manager as I stood outside the elevator on my way out of the building. THe woman in HR pretty much said I was making too many mistakes and that she was sorry but she was going to have to let me go. I replied "you're not as sorry as I am. My former manager following me into my former area said as I was standing waiting for the elevator. "Again we're sorry". I replied "again you aren't as sorry as I am".
I had befriended the phone secretary who saw everything and she was speechless with horrified eyes. I stood inside the elevator looking back at her but saying nothing until the elevator door shut and we never saw each other again.
I am sympathetic to you, but this happens all time. Some people don’t fit with their jobs. It’s stinks for everyone, but especially the person that gets fired. That doesn’t mean it should not happen. Other people will get fired if their reports are underperforming.
