I have a horrible fear of rejection

I have a horrible fear of rejection. And because of that I will most likely never get to tell you how I feel. I wish I was more outgoing, prettier, smarter, ect. If I was maybe I'd have the confidence to tell you. Oh well... maybe only in my dreams...

  • If you were prettier and smarter, your life would probably be more complicated! Be happy with who you are!

  • You are pretty and you are smart and as soon as you realize that, you will find exactly what you've been looking for

  • Sometimes, you just have to take the leap blindfolded.

If you fear rejection, you will fear a lot of things in life. We all want to be accepted by other people, when really the only way we can even muster the courage to bare our true selves in front of other people, is to first learn to accept ourselves (cliche, but terribly true). Once we feel comfortable with ourselves, we gain confidence and once we gain confidence, we gain a social backbone (I'm no psychologist, but this is my understanding of it).

I used to be just like you and in ways, I still am. I still wish I were prettier and smarter and more talented sometimes, but I've gained the courage to be my true self in front of people, to bare my feelings, if need be. Sometimes the only way to overcome your fear is to dive in head first. You won't die, you won't spontaneously combust. And the best thing is that even if you do fall flat on your face, we humans have this awesome capability to get back up and work to make ourselves into whatever we want to be.

Please try to live your life the way you want to, not the way you wish you could. You can make it happen, you just need to grab at it with two fists and hold on, even if the rope snaps. That is pure courage and one of the most admirable things a person can do for themselves. x
