By doing the opposite of what she says,you are till being controlled by her. It's only when you do what you want regardless of what others want (and even if they want it too), that you are doing as you please. On the other hand, the first poster is correct, unless your mother is telling you to do something illegal or immoral, go along with her until you are on your own. Also, the truth is few adults are truly free to do as they please in all things, at all times. The government, religion and employers are good for making sure of that!
Puberty Rage. Many grow out of it by their early 20's. Do what you want but until you move out and can support yourself, do what your Mother tells you. She's protecting you from the harsh reality of living in the rat-race.
