I am quite happy with the idea, I think it is better than having a furious argument and being in the doghouse for several days.

A little while after we got married my wife got really angry over the way I was staying out late with friends or co-workers and not thinking there was anything wrong with it. I'd blow her off when she confronted me. One evening that all changed after I came home late again and after getting a shower ended up over my very angry wife's lap. She really beat my bare ** and I realized how poorly I'd been treating her and how irresponsible I'd been acting.
I changed pretty quickly and she appreciated the change. She decided she knew how to handle things from then on and I've been over her lap since then.
Similar to the above story, we were visiting my mother in law and she was commenting on my attentiveness to my wife as I was helping them with cleaning up after lunch. My wife literally told her mother "All I had to do was spank the daylights out of him once and he quickly began to straighten up."
I was almost stopped in my tracks but continued helping without saying anything.
My mother in law didn't believe her at first but my wife convinced her it was true
and it wasn't the only time and said I knew I'd better keep flying right or "he knows what will happen." It ended there, the conversation changed and I was flustered but acted fine.
