A Love Song Too My Wife In Heaven

My wife died of cancer back in 2008 and the loss is still as painful for me today as it was the day she died. My wife and I were both big Yes fans but I never got a chance to play for her this rare version of "I'm Alive" from the 1989 ABWH sessions. Nevertheless, the message in much of Yes / Jon Anderson music is that the soul lives on after death.

When you lose a wife, or someone very close to you, you become very spiritual. This is a beautiful song with deep and beautiful lyrics. This is a spiritual shout out to my wife in heaven. My love - I'll see you on the other side someday............

Only when you spoke did I realize
Someone broke into your life
How we hurt and never show it

Come into my world, hold me in your arms
There's a mystery to the touch
How it heals so when we're broken

I believe that all the fear you've had
Can gently fly away
We experience, we hope together
Lost in one embrace
We will love forever, this eternity
For in this love I'm alive, I'm alive

Children of the east, children of the west
Putting friendship to the test
How we hurt and never show it

Funny how we look, how we realize
There's a freedom in your eyes
How you helped me with your light
How you helped me with your light

I believe this world surrounds us
From the first day to the last
We experience, we live together
Lost in one embrace
We will love forever, this eternity
For in this love I'm alive, I'm alive

I believe that all the fear you've had
Can gently fly away
We experience, we hope together
Lost in one embrace
We will love forever, this eternity
For in this love I'm alive, I'm alive

  • Dear Friend,
What a lovely tribute your late wife! It seems though that a lot of time has passed and you may be suffering from protracted grief. Hopefully you will heal a bit more as time passes but if you find that you are still very much in grief after a while, you might well benefit from grief therapy. Take care now and condolences.

  • I'm sorry for your loss
