The sad state of modern music
A sad thought came over me today as I was loading my 40 year old Cat Stevens collection into my Itunes program. Do you realize that Cat Stevens actually recorded more great songs between 1970 and 1975 than the whole music industry has given us over the past 20 years!
Yup! It’s true! Over the past 20 years we’ve had “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion, plus a few great songs from Hozier and a few more great songs from Of Monsters And Men - and that’s about it. Other than these few exceptions, the past 20 years have been a musical wasteland!
Today I was on Youtube and I was watching the video for Megan Trainor’s ‘NO”. The song’s lyrics tell guys to back off in no uncertain terms. Of course, on the surface Megan Trainor looks “untouchable” However, when you watch the video it seems to me like Megan Trainor’s name is actually a big fat YES if the person hitting on her happens to be a lesbian.
Yup Megan! Speaking as a guy, I think I really will “just let it go“! FYI, I wouldn’t pay you two cents for the privilege of downloading this disgusting display of lesbian / feminist debauchery!
Then I switched over to the auto-tuned into oblivion Jennifer Lopez singing “I Ain’t Your Mama”. This shrill has been grating my ears ever since I can remember! For this disaster I just had to leave a comment. Here it is:
“Bad instrumentation, bad lyrics, bad hooks, bad singing and a horrible message = bad music. 21st century bimbo pop is a total joke. I can't believe that people actually pay money to download this kind of s-h-i-t”.
Why do you idiots still support this kind of garbage? Only a complete moron would pay their hard earned money for fake music with crap hooks and a sick message………
