I need time to think

I have a crush on my neighbor and shes a year older than me. We've been good friends for a while now and she even asked me to her senior prom. Her friends have been telling me she might like me and that makes me excited to think that. Shes the first girl ever that i actually like and she makes me feel ways no one else can (cuz i have trouble forming emotional connections with people). anyway weve been hanging out and texting more recently lately and i just couldnt keep my feelings in much longer. I told her that i liked her and the conversation went like this
"I like you"
She smiled "Thank you for telling me. Can I have time to think?"
"Of course"
and that was pretty much it. idk if time to think means if she likes me or not or if she is just thinking of the least painful way to say no. Please help. It's been 2 days since I've told her and she has said nothing. I've been avoiding places we would meet cuz i dont want to run into her before she finishes "thinking." what should i do?

  • What happened? This was posted 17 days ago as of today 5/11. Has she responded? Are you going to prom? Hey, you were brave and took a chance and told her how you felt. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. You guys are friends and you've been texting, that's a good sign. As a girl, it's really easy to just say, "I like you as a friend" and then it's done. But telling her changed the game. So, she may truly need to check in with herself and see how she feels about you or how dating you would change the friendship. Hoping for the best! Update?!

  • Thanks so much for asking! I waited about a week and a half before finally confronting her and by that point I kinda already knew the answer was no. Then she admitted that she still liked this a****** guy ( her words not mine) and that she thought if she had time she could change how she felt but of course she couldn't. We both say we're on good terms now and we're still going to prom but I haven't talked to her since and I really don't know if she feels weird still or how things will turn out. But thank you for responding and caring!

  • The thing about finding love, is all about timing. Sucks, but it's true. If it's forced, it won't work. It may not be your time with her. And that is ok. You are going to be just fine. You sound like a really awesome guy. Go to prom, have a blast with your friends. Live your life and date other girls. And you never know, the stars may align and you two will reconnect in the future. There are a lot of plusses to this situation. You took a chance and told someone how you felt. That is not easy. Sometimes the answer is not what you want to hear, but it's the right answer and you learn to move on and grow. Not all yes answers are good and not every no answer is a bad. So, keep on looking, you'll find someone. :)

  • Thank you I needed that
