I salvaged things my company threw away
I was taking some trash to the company dumpster and I saw a snap-brim hat. It was a nice cotton hat with a snap brim and leather inside. Nothing was wrong with the hat so I took it and put it in my car. They threw away some Halloween decorations and I salvaged a skeleton. It was made of plastic and serves me well on October the 31st.

I once carpeted my basement home office with remnant pieces that my old office threw away...Took me two trips, but my office had fairly new, blue carpeting for years.
