The day the stranger named Tommy got in trouble undeservedly

When I was 12 I used to make crank telephone calls. This was long ago when phone calls were hard to trace.

What I would do is call a random number and when someone answered I'd do duh duh duh duh duh duh. This would p*** the housewives of the day off and some of them threatened to call the police.

One woman who was a complete stranger to me siad "I know who this is" "It's TOMMY".

You let me speak to your mother Tommy. I hung up and I'm sure Tommy was accused of something he didn't do.

  • In the old days it was hard to trace at that moment! But if you waited for you phone bill every number you called and who called you where on the bill. That was when it was Ma Bell the only phone company!

  • This was in 1959.

  • No MaBell lasted till the early 80's Thats when the government said MaBell was a monopoly. So the phone company was broken up! Thats when service went right out the door. If your landline is broke you'r now lucky if they fix it in a week. Used to be they came out that day or the next day.
