A Mormon asked me what benefits are there to being an Atheist.
My reply was there is none. No benefit at all. Atheists are merely being realistic about the awful finality of death. You die goodbye. No benefit. We possess a profound unpleasant truth.

Note plenty of extreme left ideology IS religion too. All the self-love / gender / wellbeing / social support stuff is not based in what a human being is nor with how we have learned thru millenia about how a society works and gets governed. "I am an Atheist" to me sounds just like "I am a Protestant" - a statement letting me know not just what the person thinks of gods or no gods but also what their next shot will be.
Being an atheist doesn't classify as a left winger. Atheists can be conservative, moderate or liberal.
Lack of evidence is not proof. While I accept atheism is a rational position one may take, it almost becomes religion in itself. I'm not religious, and I'm almost repulsed by organized religion, but I do believe death is not the end, and between myself and my family, I have plenty of accounts that indicate that our deceased loved ones still exist somewhere.
Yes but are the accounts evidence? Could it just be wishful thinking? I would not mind a decent eternal existence but in order to believe in an afterlife, god etc I need something to show me that a God exists. I don't believe in the supernatural. I wish it did but there is a derth of evidence.
The moment you say anything like "we poses a profound ..." it is clear you are not an atheist, what you are is a member of a group of people who share a particular faith (in non-existence of gods).

You see one short post and you came out a troll. Not believing in gods is one thing, believing in Atheism is quite another.
When you spell possess poses it makes my point that much stronger. There is no scientific evidence for a God.
There does not need to be. It is up to the believer to provide the proof, NOT up to the non believer. Or am I missing something here ?
As any judge. The one who claims something is to provide the evidence. Hence the prrof of gods is on the believers.
Your missing something here. If a believer is trying to convince an Atheist God exists he needs to have evidence of a scientific nature.
As a child, I was forced to participate in making videos in which I was ** and touching myself along with other kids from our church. This all happened to us at the fundamentalist cult church our parents forced me to attend. We were all intimidated and threatened into cooperation and secrecy. It wasn't until I was old enough to run away to actually get help that any of the authorities finally moved in and acted on the rumors that were already circulating in our small township. It was in the news initially but fell away very quickly as the investigation revealed far more that what they were prepared to handle. It was noting short of a living **. I do not participate in any church and I still live in fear that those vids are still on the internet. How can any God allow this to happen!!!
