I secretly don't trust white people.

I was the same way. I went to a college that was 80% white. I experienced so much racism that I had a nervous break down my sophomore year and wouldn't leave my house for 9 months except to go to the doctor. I was ** by a stranger when I was 21 while I was sleeping. I dont trust going to sleep around me I don't know because if that. I actually do have white friends and they all know what happened to me. They are very understanding because they have a real friendship with me and I am not a token black person to them. I met most of them because they were dating a black person I was friends with or already friends with people I know. These people and myself are unapologetically black and deeply involved with anti-racism. You know they are real when they don't get mad or upset when you talk about race. I live in Alabama. They wont even go to the same school as black people. Yes we have segregated schools.

I am familiar with this feeling. The people that supposedly think I'm friends with them have absolutely no problem saying something racist in front of my face. I walk down the hall to give my teacher something and this moron who believes I'm friends with him says something that took me to a whole new level of angry. I walked way and asked one of the teachers where my teacher was. I knew that I could say something bad too, but I was raised in a family that taught me that there is no point in being angry. You can't change who you are and that's ok. Now, I realize that nothing can make me more happy than having my family, and I don't care what racists say. I hope this kid can see what I think of him. Not that it would really make a difference in his life. Hopefully one day, people realize that we all deserve to be treated equally as God would want.

Being that I am not black, no I do not and cannot understand the experiences that people of color face, related to racial matters. But as a human being who is reasonably intelligent (intelligent enough to not believe ideas like the white idiot I quoted earlier) I have been able to form friendships with people of all races throughout my life, and consider that a blessing. People are people man, & some of us [people] have good hearts and sharp minds, and some of us have ** hearts (sadly…). These would be the white people who were "bread to hate blacks". Maybe I just grew up around smart white folks and not the idiot ones… but I've never been friends with someone who was "raised to hate black people". Like I said, race has never been an issue in my group of close friends (we are all different shades of the human rainbow).

I cannot understand the experiences you have had that make you believe you shouldn't trust white people due to their racist attitudes, because I have never experienced discrimination related to being black, as I was born with skin that requires SPF 30 or higher…

You say that race is not an issue in your group of close friends but unfortunately in today's world non-white people don't talk about racism in the presence of white people because most white people get very defensive if such things are brought up. It's probably not that there are no issues but that non-white people just don't talk about them openly.

I am a white, middle-aged man, and I try to avoid blacks whenever possible. It's not hatred, just a preference. And it's not about skin color, but culture. I wasn't born this way. It wasn't taught to me by my parents. It's from my own experiences. In school, which was 40-percent black, the black students constantly harassed the white students. And the black students also slowed down the learning for the whites. When I got into the working world, it was much the same. I managed a retail store for awhile, and despite being only a small percentage of our customers, blacks accounted for almost all of the shoplifting. Of the 80 employees I managed at any given time, only the 15 or so blacks ever had issues - coming in late, showing up drunk or high, getting into fights with customers, etc. Eventually I got a new job where I can choose who I work with. I live in a white neighborhood, work with whites, and socialize with whites. Like I said though, it's not about hatred or racism. Just a preference stemming from experience.

When I felt regret at that choice, whitey just showed their true colors and made me disappointed again. I prefer to associate with Asians over any whitey out of preference due to my experience.

Whites I worked with as an English teacher in Asia where mostly disrepectful, rude, arrogant, convinced of their culture's superiority and less reasonable. Unpleasant folk in all. Blacks at least had some perspective to temper their views. Locals? They actually welcomed a good deal of the ** feedback.

As a black woman, I can understand your point. Although I do not trust white people because they are highly deceitful, hateful, and manipulative, and do not want to be around them, I also do not like working with or being around the type of black people you just described. I also do not like working with a bunch of cut-throat Mexicans. I do not consider myself a bigot, I am just very selective with whom I share my space in general. Because, in general, all races (people) have their issues, and because I have always preferred to stay away from all the b.s., I choose to work at home alone.

Statistically black and white drug use is the same. But Heroin addiction is on the rise- for white people. And Crystal Meth is a white epidemic.

I find more and more that white people assume what your "culture' is before knowing you and many I meet are less educated, open minded and frankly interesting than the creative dynamic, kind hearted black folks I know.

It isn't black people being racist. They are just angry for what has happened in the past. It isn't fair that they were whipped, hung, abused, etc. The funniest thing is that black people haven't done things nearly as bad as what slave owners and racist people have done to them. Think about it. And not all black people are stupid. My family is full of lawyers, doctors, and entrepreneurs who are rich but friendly. It is true that harrasment is wrong, but no one gets the idea that there is no purpose for racism. If you avoid black people you are a racist because you are judging these people without getting to know who they are. I try my very best to prove people wrong for I am a straight A student who takes all honors classes. Some of them might be racist but lots of them especially when they're immature and college-aged like that get thrown into fits of giggles hearing or saying something they know is verboten and figure it doesn't bother you because you know them better than that and maybe they have some black friends who they kid with like that.

Let them know despite how it feels to them, it's actually really hard for other people to tell how serious they are, especially if they have sensitivities that would be totally alien to your average white kid.
