My Republican Father
When I lost my job last year, I was very poor for a while but managed to keep paying rent until I found a new job several months later.
My Republican dad recently asked me if I ever applied for food stamps or welfare while I was unemployed. I replied honestly that, no, I hadn't because I didn't know how. He was so proud that, even in times of trouble, I'd never asked the government for help.
What he'll never know is that, while I was jobless, I gave ** to strangers to pay my bills.
You should have told him that. Republican values are so hypocritical and backwards that he would've gone into terminal confusion. "Omg, he ** ** just like TEH GAYZ!!!!! ...But he got money for it, which is better than going on food stamps."
This is the "pro-life" party that, right this moment, is actively encouraging people to go back to their normal, pre-Covid routines. Yeah, some people will die, but whatever-- at least they're not fetuses, right? Right?
You were providing a service in exchange for financial remuneration... sounds like a job to me. As an aside teaching people how to access government services should be part of the high school curriculum. After all, your taxes pay for those services, you should know how to use them.
