8 degrees to trouble

It's my mother's voice. It awakens me. Suddenly one of my sisters bust into my room and say,"Did you touch the heater?"
I reply "no".
She responds, "Well that's why mom's screaming, someone moved the heater to 80 degrees and now she has to pay a lot of money."
I try to go back to sleep knowing damn well I touched the heater.
I was freezing so I moved the heater up eight degrees to be warm, ignorant of the consequences. A few minutes i hear my mom scream my name and order me to come downstairs. My hearts beating. I quickly get up and notice my phone then press the home button, looking for an imessage from Jesus I suppose. Then I rush downstairs only to see that everyone's looking at me. Who told? I think. My mom says my name firmly and continues with "...Did you touch the heater and move it to 80 degrees?" Her face was red and 10 eyes were on me. I respond with a simple no like before. She then ask if I'm sure, I respond with a yes. Our eyes are locked. In belief she says okay and continues yelling at my grandma's nurse "the adult in the house". I help put away groceries and continue the innocent look. While my mom tells us all to look here and she starts yelling, telling us how everything is all on her which is completely false however I do not object. She then says that it cost thousands to heat up a house, and that we (my three sisters and I)may touch anything but the heater. We agree and walk away. Abruptly, she shows us the heater and explains how it works and to keep it at 72 degrees we say yes in fear she may do something and we run upstairs. I'm 15 years of age and I'm very worried what my mom may do if she finds out it was me. She's under a lot of stress right now and I'm contemplating whether or not to tell her. I touched the heater. I don't want anybody getting in trouble because of that. I wish she would let it go.
