So Now What?

46 years old. I would have never thought I would live this long but here I stand. Due to some personal tragedy I never married or had kids. I figure that I can barely take care of myself so why would I want to bring another human into this world?
Due to health reasons I can't go out and work a regular job anymore and to be honest I really don't want a 'regular job'. I had one of those in my 20's but I found out that I don't want someone telling me when I can take a trip.
Now trying to find something that I can do for work by writing from home. Is anybody out there making some cash by blogging or writing. I would like to hear from you.

  • I'm 69 and I'm in the same fix.

  • There are pros and cons to everything, such is life I guess. I have freelanced for many years. It's great to run errands or meet a friend for lunch during the week. But it can be a little isolating, but that's just me. When I did freelance, I also struggled with having the time to travel, but not having the money to do so. Because with freelance - I had to pay for health and you don't get paid time off or paid if you don't work. But that doesn't mean that there aren't awesome remote work situations available for you.

    Some ideas:
For writing - look into mediabistro.com.
For remote: look into virtualvocations. I think it's $40/month. I found that with some they do want you to be in the same state. But you just have to look.
craigslist.org, indeed.com - check out writing/creative gigs or even telecommuting options.

Creating a job for yourself : Maybe look into something like writing reviews for movies, plays, restaurants etc.. Although, that would require to do some out of the house work.

Get on linkedin etc and network and offer your services for proofing and editing for businesses. New businesses need copy for websites and printed collateral.

For blogging - you can make money with ads, but you need a followers. Writing daily articles and posting requires dedication and discipline. And you would need to be fairly active on social media to create traffic to and from your blog. It can be done, just takes time. But if you have the passion for it, it could be a lot of fun. And that's the point. And alot of the blogs are adding videos too.

Here's something else I stumbled upon..
    http://www.thepennyhoarder.com/ways-to-make-money-at-home/
I don't think any of them are Get Rich Quick, but maybe it adds some variety to your day.

    Good luck!
