I have a friend whose married to a woman with a strange story
My friend told me some of his wife's family story which goes like this.
His wife was born as the result of a failed relationship. Her parents were unwed and apparently her father left her mother and left her very bitter. Her mother met another man and she married the second man. The step dad apparently didn't want his wife's little girl and was very vocal about it.
She wasn't sent away but he was told that she would have to leave the house when she turned 18. She went through childhood wearing hand me down clothes and playing second fiddle to her two half brothers and sisters.
Year 18 arrives and the girl joins the army. She is good at what she does and she stays in 20 years and retires. In the meantime, she got married and has three wonderful children. Two girls and a boy.
She leaves the army with her husband and gets a good job working for the government.
Many years have passed and her unhappy mother gets in touch with her and tells her a sob story. Her husband is unemployed and her two children by him are high school dropouts and dopers.
She told her mother that her decision to kick her out of her life was a decision she would have to live with and that she thought that in the best interests of both of them that she break off all contact with her and to never call her again.
Breaks my heart. I would never choose a man over my daughter. I'd rather be alone forever than be with a man that would think my child could be treated like that. I am so happy to hear she thrived despite such as sad childhood, with pathetic adults.
