I thought I wanted to find my father

I found my dad after 13 years. He's in jail for murder. I've talked to him and discovered, I happy that he's safe and somewhere I don't have to worry about him but I do not want to talk to him anymore. He's a racist, sexist ** and belittles me by treating me like I'm to stupid to understand him. You would think a man with a daughter wouldn't want her to live like she's in segregated America, barefoot and pregnant, with only an eighth grade education to fall back on but he does. When I told him my aunt, his sister, divorced her husband because he cheated on her with her cousin, he told me she should have hooked him up with her cousin so he wouldn't have to do it behind her back. Who says ** like that?! I mean really, he'd really have her do that? What kind of sick, demoralized world does he want her to live in? Maybe I just don't understand the male mind but even if it was vise versa, I wouldn't want it to be done behind his back or in his face.

    • I'm so sorry you had to meet your father and find out his mind set in this way. You have worked hard to keep your life on the right track using the cards that you were dealt. Your father is very different from you. He cannot be saved with your love or your kindness. The best thing you can do for yourself and family is to walk away from him and Dave all your good energy for yourself and your good family memebers that need you. You were made from him but you are not stuck with him. You are a string good person who knows more about human behavior than most people. Stay strong for yourself and your loved ones. You can't save your dad. Life has broken him already and your job is to give strength to yourself and those who depend on you. Hugs***

    • Most men don't think like your father. The male mind can be very moral. I'm not sure what your father's problem is but you might want to quit visiting him. He's sick in the head.

    • Like father like daughter. How many people you killed?

    • Why are you so suprised he has a ** up state of mind? He's in prison for murdering someone. . .

    • I didn't get to grow up with him but I heard all these stories about the kind of man he was, I guess I should have figured he was going to be different but I guess the child in me still wanted some kind of relationship with him.

    • Your father has some delusions about the way life should be. Don't try to make sense or reason what he's saying. It will just make you crazy. He may be your father by birth, but takes more to be a parent, mentor or role model. Hope you have other positive male influence in your life. You know what's right and how you want to navigate the world. It's nice that you found him. Because it have you closure. Work on relationships that matter to you. Your father is not capable or able to be in your life.

    • You're right, I can't expect to make any sense out of what he says. I've tried to have a normal relationship with him and that's all I could have done. Thank you for your kind words, I needed them.
