Liked brother now him?

I liked this guy for almost a year. he was so nice and everything. we talked almost every day and i truly thought we had something. recently we stopped being friends. his brother just got out of a relationship and talked to me about how he was doing. i started to like talking to him more. is it bad if i start to like his brother?
