Everyone's Going to Hate Me
I am Catholic.
And I can honestly say that I do not support gay marriage.
People are going to hate me.
But I'm confident.
Why, you might ask?
In the Bible, God said that marriage is between a man and a woman.
You've heard of Adam and Eve? And He told them to be fruitful and multiply?
Can you do that when you're married to someone of your same gender?
No.
It's the purpose of marriage.
And we are desecrating a beautiful sacrament.
And America was founded with religious morals.
We don't have any right to defy what God says.
That's all I have to say.
I agree with you. Gayness frightens me. I’m pretty sure that it is a sick and demoralizing, humiliating life with no hope of perpetuating life... it’s a dead end. Maybe we should feel bad for them and pray they find love in women but their hearts and lusts turned them away thus receiving the penalty of such error. Sorry, god loves the person but hates the sin.
Even then they shouldn't be relevant anymore
The founding fathers were against religion idiot
Couple must apply for a "Marriage License" at the local government's office prior to their marriage ceremony. Why? Because a marriage a legal civil contract. A marriage may be performed by a Priest, Rabbi, Deacon, Evangelist, Notary Public, Mayor, Magistrate or Judge. Once a marriage is performed, the individual officiating the ceremony, when the Marriage Contract is legitimized, is required to submit that signed Marriage License back to the civil government for recording the Marriage License"... A Legal, Civil Instrument.
In order for a marriage contract to end (revocation of the Marriage License Contract) it can only happen in a Civil Arena.
The religious element regarding the civil Marriage License is demonstrated by the type of ceremony which initiates/legitimizes the marriage. Civil Law does not dictate a couples individual terms and conditions of their marriage ceremony, or who conducts it. Government simple issues the Marriage License Instrument. There are laws which govern aspects of a marriage which, when violated, may provide an individual in the marriage the right to annul, or divorce the offending spouse. No where does our government dictate who, what, where or when the marriage ceremony can be officiated. Marriage is a CIVIL RIGHT, based on Civil Laws not theological doctrines.
Adam and Eve didn't have a marriage license. As for your position for multiplying: there are plenty of married couple who can not have children and do not adopt. Does that mean their marriage isn't blessed of God? What about childless Christian couples, are they less in God's eyes?
To advance his political objectives Abraham, the Father of Christianity, took Sarah (his wife) to sleep with Pharaoh and their King. Sarah arranged for Abraham to sleep with her hand servant, and he did so until she bore him a son. Based on todays standards they were adultering-swingers.
Marriage, regardless of the gender identities of the couple is a Civil Right.
So your ok with Priest having ** with underage boys cause we all know about the cover up
The bible says do not judge and here your judging
all so just because your not say you are also a sinner !
We all are sinners I hate how people pick and choose what is sin
Have you ever told a lie ? Stole anything ? Have ** before marriage ? Anger at anyone ?
Your just sinner so stop pointing your fingers at other sinners !
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;“
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
Question to original poster and all others here who are against gay marriage: Are you a woman? From some of your posts I suspect some of you are. If you are, I want you to get your bible out and look up Timothy 2:11 - 2:13, and then shut your mouth. How dare you presume to think you can tell a man (regardless of whether he is gay or not) what to do. The bible (the very word of our Lord God on high!) forbids you from teaching scripture or having authority over a man, any man (which is what you are trying to do here...seriously, I'd be worried about a lightning bolt any second if I was you). Instead you are to be silent, humble and submissive. Most of you didn't make it obvious that you were women, and thus, might be tempted to lie now and pretend to be men writing. There is no way for us mortals on this forum to know or see if you lie to us, but remember that God will know, for he knows all things. And you will be damned for willfully defying his good book and its gospel. As a man I may teach to you, and do have authority over you, so while you have your bible out, please also take a look at: Tim 5:9, Luke 2:22 & 2:49, 1st Peter 2:18 & 3:1-6, 1st Corinthians 11:2-10 & 14:34, Ephesians 5:22-24, Colossians 3:18-22, and Revelation 17 and 14:4. That's all New Testament, and there fore holds great authority, but if you want some more from the OT, check out: Genesis 3:16, 4:19, 12:13-19, 19:5-8, 19:30-38, 20:2-12, 25:1-6, and Numbers 12. After reading all that, please consider if you, as women, really want our society to closely base its laws and morality on the Lord's Holy Gospel, or if perhaps a less strict (more selective) interpretation may be in order. Perhaps you might choose to ignore the good book all together and tell me to go ** myself. I will take it as a sign that you have had a religious revelation and have no problems with gay marriage or gays in general, and I guess I will simply have to tolerate pompous ignorant religious women.
There are two things wrong with your argument.
1) Marriage was around BEFORE Christianity. It was a way to ensure human reproduction, keep peace between groups of people, and things like that. There was no ritual to it, no fancy gathering, did not have to be done by a priest, did not require witnesses, and no paperwork. All that came about when the church decided to take control of it.
2) Contrary to popular belief, the United States was NOT founded with religious morals. The US was, in fact, created because of a desire for religious FREEDOM. Which means they would have wanted to leave religion far, far away from the new government they were creating. Many of the founding fathers were not theists, as everyone assumes. Many were deists and others are believed to have been atheists.
With a little research I am sure you will be floored with how much the church takes credit for. I was.
Religious freedom was one reason, but it was a principle to not establish a state church. In a sense the first amendment never outlaws a state sanctioned religion, just that a group is not forced to be in that state sanctioned religion. Gay marriage is an example that makes it a civil allowance, church marriages do not have to be condoned by the state.
Has it ever occurred to you that there's people who aren't catholic and don't believe in god? i'm straight and i support gay marriage. it's ridiculous when i see heterosexual relationships ranging from flourishing to horrible and all are seen as acceptable, but when there's a happy homosexual couple it's disgusting to some. just stop. it literally has nothing to do with you whatsoever, you're not god and you have no say over what others should do to make themselves happy.
I am so happy someone said this! I am also a catholic, all you people who say god has abandoned you, he hasn't, think of all the good things in your life. That because of him. And i agree to, gay marriage is wrong!
The good things in my life are because of me I'm not going to give credit to made up **
I don't hate you I just think that your dumb for even thinking god cares about us at all... I mean he hasn't spoken to us in thousands of years the only way for him to turn his back on Jesus is to turn his back on the universe, which means he probably still doesn't care, its time for us to move on and stop believing in him he obviously has left the building or he quit believing in us....
You go person! Im catholic too and all the people that have commented on this that are stupid and just plain mean, dont sin, gay marriage is WRONG. Please look to god for forgivness, save your own soul while you can.
Hate to burst your bubble but everyone on of us are sinners that is why jesus dies on the cross so your not one without sin worry about yourself
** think about that logic for a second how the ** does Jesus getting sacrificed solve anything a 5 year old could come up with a story with less plot holes ** u
Wow! All you people are ** up! To the author of the post, when you have a few seminary degrees, died and been ressurected and have been God for a few days, then tell us what He freally thinks or wants. and to the people who commented, grow up. what hever happened to 'live and let live'? the thing is, gay people are BORN GAY. men dont wake up one day and say "hmm i think ill ** **!" gay people are physically attracted to the same ** from birth. also, no person on this planet has the right to say who you can love. it should be legal for same ** marrige. gays deserve the same rights as us hetero's. maybe you have such homophobia because youve had some fantasies or something that makes you sick with yourselves. idk, whatever. im a strong believer that God created us all just the way we are. so wait? if He created us this way, then a gay woman is supposed to be gay? DUH! stop judging people and let them be who they are! love is a beautiful thing. let it grow and flourish!
I respect your right to have your own point of view, but if I may ask a question: How do you decide which guidelines to follow and which to not follow? Among other things, the Bible tells us:
* People who work on the Sabbath should be put to death
* Children who curse their parents should be put to death
* You should not wear clothing made of both wool and linen
* You should not clip the edges of your beard
* You should give a tenth of everything you have to God
* Anyone whose ** or testicles have been damaged or removed is not allowed to enter a congregation of the Lord
* A ** (or anyone descendants for 10 generations) may not enter a congregation of the Lord
* Children are to be beaten with the rod as punishment, and any child who has been will not die
* You shouldn't call any man on Earth "Father"
* You should only pray in private
* Men should not have their heads covered when praying
* Women should have their heads covered while praying
* Men shouldn't have long hair
* Women should not speak in Church (if they have questions, they should wait to ask their husbands at home)
* Those who don't work, should not eat
* Women shouldn't teach men
* Don't let non-Christions into your house
Do you follow the Bible exactly?
I do not hate i respect yo for sharing your true and honest opinion not many people are brave enough to do that. I am a methodist and all though i dont agree with all things te the catholic church as to say i agree it says IN ALL FOUR GOSPELS THAT GAY AND LESBIENISM IS NOT RIGHT. Jesus says it ultipe times.
