Description of an engineering manager of an awesome product, in a renowned big multinational software company. All descriptions below are a collection of back talks by his direct reports. He is manager for 5 years but no people management skills. Poor social skills. Over a decade old baccalaureate with no further studies. Habit of idealizing the project schedules and plans. Inconsiderate towards view points of team members. No MBA courses learned; not even project management and people management courses. Exposure of just one company since the completion of his college. Poor at using logic and making inferences from facts. Highly incompetent in technical as well as managerial skills and mostly ends up working every day for 12 to 14 hours and mostly on weekends. Bad at communicating the work related future plans. Lacks leadership qualities like, independent, unbiased, objective and fair decision making. Never saw a single successful leader working/ encouraging to work for hours. Chatting for long to his wife, who sits on the same floor, apparently and repeatedly ignoring his direct report who waits outside his cabin to discuss work during office hours. This certainly has discomforting influence on others. Poor social outlook. Can't think of any other topic except for work. History of disturbed personal life which, we guess, accumulates too much frustration in him. Even a polite discussion related to work makes him take things personally and feels offended in that he starts to believe that his plan is not respected and followed (and best is to say a blind yes to his words). Bad at dealing with failures. Not sharing the responsibility, rather preferring to blame select team members for the failure. Mostly poker face with his teammates while being happy-happy with his friends and wife who work in the same office. Good administrative skills (not managerial skills). In his cool temper he is soft spoken. Stays quite in his room with door closed. This relieves people as they do not often get to see his poker face.
