Depressed wife

Just found out my wife of 6 years has been suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts since she was a child. The only break from this was the first 4 years of our relationship and now we have less excitement it's all come back. She's never had any treatment for this before and has never told anyone.

I immediately set up counseling for her but she feels there is no hope and just doesn't want to be alive any more, no matter what I say to her.

  • Dear Friend,
Tell her that you love her, that there is hope and that you will accompany her to the doctor and counseling so that she can get over her depression. If she refuses to go, you can always call the ambulance and let them know she is depressed and suicidal, and they will come to get her and hospitalize her until her mood improves. Her relatives and friends may also be a good resource to help you help her. Good luck and let us know how things work out.

  • Tell her that you're here for her and you need her. She's in an extreme emotional stage right now. You need to convince her without force. Take an emotional and practical approach. She'll be convinced. (:

  • Can the therapist come to you? The only other thing you can do is call the police. They'll take her by force
