My ex manager wanted me o continue working Saturdays
When I was informed that I was going to be laid off after a company merger my soon to be ex-manager wanted me to continue working Saturdays. I was flabberghasted. I mean doing that would interfere with my collecting unemployment and the money they paid was ** and the distance from my house would make the trip an inconvenience.
The man who was to take my place said he wasn't going to do it because he wanted to spend time with his family. I encouraged him not to do it and his manager who was not the same as mine said he didn't have to.
It didn't do me any good of course, to convince him not to do the Saturday work but I did have a smug self-satisfaction that my ex-manager would be very inconvenienced.
I went about my merry way and eventually found other work.
If I was so great a worker she should have tried to keep me.
That's what happens when working-class people aren't valued-- they're treated like ** and are then expected to keep performing as long as it's convenient for whoever's treating them like **. The fun part is that the **-givers are ALWAYS blindsided when the "piece of **" turns out to be an intelligent human being who is done with their **, and acts accordingly. They never learn.
Well done!
