I kept working after everyone else had been laid off

I was unhappy after I was passed over for a raise and everybody else got one. I asked to be transferred to another department and there was a job available. Every once in awhile I would overhear some a******* talking about me leaving their section because I got passed over for a raise but I ignored them.

About five months into this situation the section I had left was forced out of business. Their job had actually become illegal. They were laid off. Everyone of them. I was the only person who had ever worked that job that still worked there.

The whole company was on the verge of going out of business except for one small department but before that happened I got a job with an insurance and worked there until I retired.

  • U kept working because you f***** the boss

  • I was at a job where I actually trained the person who would eventually take over my job. The company was outsourcing our entire department. I eventually negotiated having them lay me off. There are pros and cons to every job. And company owners make decisions that often times do not have their employees best interests in mind. But you always have the option to find something else. And concentrate on life outside of work. Sounds like your situation was a long time ago. Don't live in the past. Enjoy your retirement.

  • Thats a tough pill to swallow. I know the feeling well. That happened to me at a ty warehouse where I worked many years ago.

  • It's natural to be unhappy when everyone else gets a raise. Maybe you were being over paid for your job. Maybe you were annoying. Who knows. My view though is if you are unhappy - move on.

  • I wasn't given an explanation and I i didn't ask for one.
