My life is over
I am turning 60 and I feel my life is over. Would love to die. Through my trade slowing and loss of income I have no money other than living day to day.
I have worked hard all my life with little to show. I feel like a failure. I want to curl up into a ball and die. What else can I do. Too old to start over.
Try to make a last stand and listen to this long by this group called Motorhead, Song Killed by Death.
And this is how you washed up self-indulgent Baby Boomers become a massive strain on the system. You just sit and whine, you sniveling lazy **. I know too many 80 and 90 year-olds who are way more motivated, energized, creative, produtive, and active for me to feel sorry for you for one second. I don't know your whole life, I don't want to, don't need to. I've seen people come back from way way worse than you've ever known. So get busy. And not by coming back to me. Go work on you, fool.
OK Millennial! Do you talk down to minorities and women and "sexually fluid" people that way too? I didn't think so. Pretending to be an "ally" to those other groups are what your kind live on, even though you think they can't handle life without your oh so capable support. As your generation ages, your hypocrisy gets harder and harder to hide. The Gen Zers and whatever coagulates next after them are going to hand you your **, the way you THINK you are the boomers. The next 20 years are going to be fun to watch!
I'm same age.. Im in the exact same boat except for serious health issues. I lost Everything including my health. If you've still got your health you need to ** ** it up and act like an adult because you've got another chance. Not everybody is as lucky as you.
Tighten down on the finances, keep your chin up, and start saving--even if you can only put away $50 a month. Your life is not over. I know many people who are basically broke in their '60s and '70s and have a difficult time, but they still live productive lives, because they never stop being active and learning new things. Life is what you make of it.
You make it sound like you are turning 90. 60 is no longer old. Sure, you aren't 20, but you still have a lot of living to do. Look into college courses at a nearby community college or online courses. Go to temp agencies...get a feel for what jobs are out there. Take care of yourself and put yourself out there to meet people. Also go to a therapist and deal with the depression you are experiencing. It's never too late. Just don't let you get in the way of making changes in your life.
Hang on to the past.
The past is gone
If you give up and decide to die, you probably will. You might have another 30 years in you though, if you didn't give up. If you started heading another direction, learned a new trade. Usually the people who make it past 70 are the ones who still find a purpose for themselves after retirement, or those who don't retire.
Yep
Find a companion to split the expenses, have someone for comfort and companionship. Go out and try!
